Triton Showers has confirmed it will continue selling its DuElec® electric shower range in the UK and Ireland after securing a unanimous victory in the Court of Appeal in a patent dispute brought by Kohler Mira.
In a judgment dated 22 December 2025, the Court of Appeal overturned the lower court’s earlier findings on both the validity of the patent and infringement. The case related to Triton’s range of dual outlet electric showers.
The decision follows an initial ruling in December 2024 in favour of Kohler Mira. Triton, working with law firm Shakespeare Martineau, was subsequently granted permission to appeal.
Phil Viner, MD at Triton Showers, said: “Over recent years, we have been working towards resolving a legal dispute concerning the DuElec® electric shower. During this time, our legal team has vigorously defended Triton’s position, and the Court of Appeal has now ruled in Triton’s favour.
“We are therefore pleased to confirm that Triton will continue to sell its highly successful range of DuElec® electric showers in the UK and Ireland, as it has done since the product was launched in May 2022. We would like to extend our thanks to the Shakespeare Martineau legal team for helping us to secure this comprehensive outcome.”
“We would also like to thank our valued customers for their support during this period and look forward to building further plans to optimise our range with them.”
Nicholas Briggs, head of intellectual property at law firm Shakespeare Martineau, added: “This is a great result for our client. Their determination to pursue the appeal for what both they and we thought all along was the right result has been fully justified.”
Emma Foster, MD at Kohler Mira, said: “We are disappointed with the Court of Appeal’s decision, which reverses the initial ruling. However, the decision does not change Mira’s commitment to vigorously protecting our intellectual property and the significant investment we make in research and development in the UK.”
