Bathroom brand nuielux has gathered insights from its installer network, uncovering the most common frustrations faced by fitters working on residential projects.
According to the findings, customer-related issues remain the biggest challenge. Installers frequently cited indecisive homeowners, unrealistic budgets, and incomplete or incorrect orders as sources of delays and disputes. Misunderstandings over quotations were also a recurring theme, with some customers failing to read documents properly before work began.
However, not all problems stem from clients. Installers reported that builders and other trades can also create difficulties, with poor attention to detail in structural or preparatory work often complicating the bathroom fitting process.
Practical challenges add to the mix, particularly when customers request ambitious product choices in small or awkwardly shaped spaces. In addition, installers noted they are still frequently called upon to fix DIY mistakes, which can turn straightforward jobs into more complex and time-consuming tasks. The legacy of “cowboy” workmanship also remains a problem, with missing parts, inadequate sealing, and uneven flooring among the most common issues encountered.
Despite the frustrations, nuielux said the majority of its network agreed the end result makes the effort worthwhile. Delivering a finished bathroom that meets customer expectations continues to provide the greatest sense of job satisfaction.
In related news, the Checkatrade Home Improvement Index, based on nearly four million job enquiries, has reported that average installation costs across kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms have fallen for the second consecutive quarter.
